Confederate infantry follows the same general structure, but with one key distinction: full Confederate squads have a Broken Morale one level higher than their Good Order Morale. This models the well‑documented tendency of Confederate units to rally effectively, maintain cohesion despite losses, and respond strongly to leadership presence. Confederate Elite and Veteran units therefore show exceptional staying power, while standard Confederate volunteers remain competitive with their Union counterparts. Confederate militia and conscripts receive lower values but still benefit from the elevated Broken Morale rule, reflecting strong local identity and defensive motivation.
