ASL from Critical Hit @ Crusades '98
16-18 January, 1998 - New Haven, CT

Critical Hit is proud to sponsor an ASL Tournament as part of the Crusades '98 Gaming Convention in New Haven, CT on January 16-18, 1998. Crusades is sponsored by the Connecticut Gaming Club. There are approximately 90 events beginning at 12pm on Friday and ending around 4pm on Sunday. Most of the events are miniatures, but there seems to be an event for everyone that doesn't play ASL (whoever that may be :)

Personally, I look forward to the chance to wander through all the miniatures events. There will also be dealers (how many I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that there will be several including used/out of print dealers) and seminars.

Registration: $15 for the whole tournament at the door.

Crusades info: If you want more information on Crusades (not the ASL tournament) call Bob at (203) 332-0410.

ASL: The ASL tournament begins at 10am on Saturday and will end mid-afternoon on Sunday. Perfect for the weekend warrior who can't afford to take a vacation day.

Tournament: This will be a Swiss Style tournament with at least four rounds of play.

Prizes: First prize is a plaque and Critical Hit gift certificate worth $50; 2nd and 3rd receive $25 and $10, respectively.

Hosts: The event is being hosted by Connecticut's own Rich Pucci. I will be on hand to answer all the rules questions that I can answer. Ray Tapio will also be on hand to answer all the awkward non-rules questions that invariably come up. It promises to be a great time for beginners or grognards, alike.

ASL Info: If you have any questions on this event, email me at 104211.553@compuserve.com.

Special Event: For all the folks that show up on Friday night (about 8pm), I will be refereeing a multi-player game of "The Grain Elevator". "The Grain Elevator" is an original design by Jack Decker using a historical map. Up to nine players can participate. Emphasis will be placed on quick, sound military decisions and less on slow, chess-like play. Unlike most multi-player games, which usually slow to a painful crawl, it is my goal to complete the scenario in less time than a normal scenario. Be prepared to think fast. If it proves to be popular, I may repeat the event Saturday or Sunday if there is enough demand. If you think that you will be attending this event on Friday night, please email me at 104211.553@compuserve.com.
