Following the popularity of the BERLIN FALL OF THE 3rd REICH UPGRADE KIT we’re taking the same approach for owners of DIEN BIEN PHU...and then some!

Just what does an existing owner get in the Upgrade Kit? More than what was offered for Berlin, for starters. The counter-set contains a total of 984 color die-cut counters, using ALL NEW detailed military art, the best in the hobby according to the most knowledgeable people in our realm: ASLers. And consistency, since the counter art has been finalized and is now reflected in a growing collection of variants, including ESCAPE FROM CHOSIN: TOKTONG PASS, as well as BERLIN: FALL OF THE 3rd REICH among others. We've even made a download document available to augment the VARIANT PLAY AID provided in this product and others using these well-received counters (you’ll find the link on our main page at www.CriticalHit.com).

The new counter set includes...yes, another helicopter model. The new whirlybird is the Sikorsky S-55, and it will be flying in, picking up wounded, dropping supplies, and hooking up the occasional Jeep or gun as a sling load using the easy-on-the-brain rules added to the S-51 set provided in CHOSIN. Additional aircraft find their way into the counter mix, including the lethal B-26B Marauder, and the F8F Bearcat.

If you are a CH customer, in addition to being an open-minded, bright, intellectually curious person, you also appreciate CHROME. Gobs of chrome, all polished to a bright shine. That’s why we know you’ll appreciate the special counters provided to represent BPVN soldiers, crack Vietnamese paratroopers with the maroon berets. And French colonial troops, with their own soldier art. Not to mention Foreign Legion officers, kepi on head and pistol waving in hand.

Oops, don’t let us get out of here without mentioning the detailed new Bangalore Torpedo counter. We think you’ll love that one. Also, you get all the HS types you need in the counter mix! You may also note the new COLOR SCHEME for the Viet Minh, red centers to remind you of their Communist bent (similar to the CCF combatants in CHOSIN).

Since this set of counters will be the basis for additional FRENCH INDOCHINA WAR scenarios and variants, you also receive additional units not found in the 1st Edition. Jeeps, the LVT4 ‘Alligator’ used in riverine warfare, an additional model of the M29C ‘Weasel’, M3A1 Scout Car, M4A1. Also included are all the SW used by both sides, Panjis...all rendered in FULL COLOR MILITARY ART.

What would be the use of all these nice new counters if you have to plop them down on a bunch of old scenario cards? Well hold on their, Navarro! If you don’t know it by know, here’s the scoop: CH has the power of the press, as in its own offset printing press -- and that power is wielded for good...your good. We’re tossing in a complete set of 18 scenarios, those included in the original product AND the 3 provided in CH 7/1...fully re-mastered, using the new art, with all errata input...ABSOLUTELY FREE.

Finally, if you’ve read this far...thank you! Lest we fail to mention a tiny detail included in the Upgrade Kit: THE NEW MAP. It’s fully re-mastered, has larger hexes than the original, our state-of-the-art terrain depictions, palette (approved for and color blind customers, by the way) including wild, 3D jungle art, new rubble art, etc. Brighter, larger overall (now 24” x 36” instead of 22” x 34”), it is also included in the Upgrade Kit.
