D-DAY RANGERS - the ATS system drops you
into the thick of the incredible mission by the 2nd Ranger Battalon
to defend the hedgerow country south of Pointe du Hoc on June
6, 1944
Our Goal: The Battle of Normandy
in hyper-detail, including other Ranger battlefields (yes, a
'Hill 400' expansion is coming for owners of D-DAY RANGERS!)
D-DAY RANGERS
AT POINTE DU HOC allows you to recreate the classic struggle
of the 2nd Ranger Battalion in the hedgerows south of Pointe
du Hoc from D-Day to June 8, 1944. Six different scenarios are
provided to enable you to experience all the facets of the grim
struggle in the most incredible historical detail. The scale
of RANGERS is 50 yards per hex and the system depicts action
on a SQUAD and INDIVIDUAL WEAPON level. Move your BAR man to
the flank. Take on a German machine-gun nest with a bayonet charge.
Wait until the last possible moment to fire your Panzerfaust
as a Sherman tank bears down on you and your men. Lob mortar
rounds into a suspected enemy position in a distant copse. All
these actions and more can be simulated using the game system
that is both easy to learn and a challenge to master.
THIS IS A BRAND NEW, COMPLETE GAME! All you need is a ten-sided
die to get into the action. Everything else is included. Whats
more, this is the ideal starter set for newcomers to the Advanced
Tobruk System (ATS). And now that ATS has moved OUT of the desert,
you can replace the T with tactical as
the long-awaited advance for the system from the sands of North
Africa to the battlegrounds of Western Europe is HERE! Released
by Critical Hit in 2002, Advanced Tobruk was a total make-over
of the classic AH title by the same name. Nominated for BEST
HISTORICAL SIMULATION OF 2002, the game and system were widely
acclaimed. Now the action moves to 1944, and all new challenges
await in hedgerow country. They await YOU.
NEW weapons are introduced to the ATS system in counter form,
including the Panzerfaust 60, Panzerschreck, M4A1 Sherman, Browning
Automatic Riflemen, French tanks flying German colors, and low-quality
German conscripts, among others. The 2nd Edition ATS rulebook
was worked up by a group of over three dozen gamers just like
you, converts to the new system that put in the effort to make
ATS the up-and-coming tactical-level wargame of the new millennium.
But, and this is a BIG but, the system remains stable
and true to Advanced Tobruk and will remain stable throughout
its lifetime. Learn it now and enjoy hundreds of battlefields
throughout the years.
Battlefields are what historical ATS gaming is all about! The
game map for RANGERS was created on-site by CH researchers Phil
Nobo and Al Yeates, the two spending a week mapping every land-form
and terrain-form. The game map and scenarios were then reviewed
by ATS designer Ray Tapio with the kind assistance of veteran
William L-Rod Petty (dec.) L-Rod is a
famous 2nd Ranger Battalion BAR-man and veteran of the battle
at Pointe du Hoc, and he provided detailed feedback IN PERSON
to ensure the accuracy of our game map.
Begin play almost immediately! The included BASIC GAME gets you
up and running fast. And there are no rules to unlearn.
All the Basic Game concepts flow right into the main rulebook.
The fast-moving action is built around the acclaimed ATS system.
The new edition of the rules builds in more ease-of-play, and
consolidates different types of combat for easier reference.
Move that Sherman down the hedgerow-ed lane, or fire off your
Panzerfaust...or bring down an artillery strike...in the ultimate
detail. That's the freedom to create your own tactical-level
work of 'art de combat' using the ATS system.
Action for RANGERS enthusiasts continues with the publication
of the D-Day Rangers Gamers Guide. This publication will include
a complete, move-by-move scenario replay, L-Rod Pettys
unpublished D-Day recollections, and articles about the ATS system,
weaponry, and all things Normandy 44 for the
enthusiast of the ATS system.
