GENESIS 48, FREE TO PATIENT PLAN MEMBERS and all others, cont.

From its original six scenario spec, the module expanded exponentially as the enthusiasm of the design and development team grew. From its humble beginning, GENESIS 48 grew to 15 scenarios, three sheets of die-cut counters, 36 page VARIANT rulebook, two color play aids. And the SINAI 56 materials were included with GENESIS 48, instead of released as a separate follow-up module.

GENESIS 48 is being assembled at PARC, CH's favorite shop, and is expected to hit the post during the week of February 26 or March 5.

Total East Front Pack 1 Kicks Off CH Phase II Scenario Pack Approach; NOW SHIPPING

Ch customers made it clear what they want in a new scenario pack: exciting actions, variety in authors, and new counters and overlays in every set. And paying a few extra dollars was not deemed a major obstacle as long as the desired items were included.

Enter CH's PHASE II scenario publishing endeavor. In a nutshell, the first 'phase' of CH's publishing for the SQUADS & LEADERS hobby is over. All new scenario packs will be part of the second wave, known as PHASE II.

In PHASE II, each scenario pack will include color overlays, die-cut counters, small historical maps or all of the above. Total East Front Pack 1 kicks things off with three new color overlays and a batch of exciting Ost Front actions by a bevy of authors.

COMBAT! DIARY UPDATE

Combat! Diary Number 2 is in the works and expected to ship during late 1st Quarter 2001. The new issue will feature Combat! Stalingrad and Combat! Kursk, with designer's notes, historical articles and more.

TOBRUK: THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Work continues on this extensive project. Most of the counters are done following completion of the 450+ ordnance and AFV target tables used to create the new combat results matrices.

The 'problem' of deciding which of the numerous desert warfare scenarios at hand to include in the game is being dealt with. Plenty of desert action is in hand to ensure plenty of new packs after the game is published. There will be a wealth of battles to depict using the rules and pieces MiH plans to provide in the new TOBRUK.

The orders of battle have been expanded with new AFV and ordnance types and their are twice as many scenarios as in the previous version. The French 25mm and 476mm AT-guns make their appearance in the fighting at Bir Hacheim and a terrain overlay depicts the famous "Point 86".

What's more, you now receive two giant 22" x 35" maps to really provide the sweep and distance of the desert war. Turns now represent one minute, giving tanks more 'speed' and avoiding that 'creeping' feeling.

You also recieve color overlays to represent wadis, depressions, hillocks, and more. More importantly, these 'typical' desert features are placed in most scenarios randomly, providing new surprises and great replay value.

The maps now have terrain that allows tanks to go into defilade positions. And more!

We blew past the hoped-for Christmas release ages ago and now aim for a 2nd or 3rd Quarter 2001 release date (guaranteed by Origins 2001). This is just one of those projects not easily declared finis due to the myriad 'extras' that can go in.

And when desert nuts like K. Marting and R. Tapio get to play with something like this the customer is the furthest thing from their minds. TOBRUK is being made as a dream game for a couple of lifetime desert warfare fans. Everyone else is just along for what will be a fun ride.

Specifications: Two 22" x 35" maps, 560 die-cut game pieces, one rulebook, numerous charts and tables, overlays, scenarios, etc. Packaged in a two-part sturdy color box. Limited print run. Advance order reservations via billing being taken now.
